John L. Boyd Dies From Heart Attack At Poplar Creek
Funeral services were held on Saturday for John L. Boyd, prominent Montgomery county farmer, who died suddenly Friday from a heart attack, while talking with a friend not far from his residence at Poplar Creek. He was 78 years old, and had been active all his life. He was the senior elder of the Poplar Creek Presbyterian church of which he had been a member more than half a century, having been made an elder in 1919. He had planned to represent his church at the meeting of Central Mississippi Presbytery at Durant this week. He had never married, and is survived by three brothers, Louis M. Boyd of Poplar Creek, A. N. Boyd of Indianola, and Walter G. Boyd of French Camp. The last rites were conducted in the Poplar Creek church by his pastor, the Rev. Horace L. Villee of Winona, the church being filled to overflowing with friends and relatives. Interment was in the old Poplar Creek cemetery on the hill near the church.
