Gerald T. Stoops, 72, of Sanford died at the MidMichigan Medical Center on Thursday, No. 26, 1998. The son of the late Loran and Nancy Alice (Todd) Stoops was born Feb. 7, 1926, in Chicago. He was raised and educated in Dearborn. Gerald served with the U.S. Army during World War II and was awarded the American Theatre Service Medal and the European African Middle Eastern Service Medal. Gerald moved in the 1950s to Midland, where The Dow Chemical Co. employed him as a computer analyst for 25 years retiring in 1988. He married the former Eileen Allen on July 14, 1962, at the Homer United Methodist Church. Gerald was a member of the Dearborn Lodge No. 172 Free and Accepted Masons, the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley of Detroit, the Midland Area Shrine Club and the Midland Amateur Radio Club. Funeral services for Mr. Stoops was conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 28, 1998 at the Wilson MILLER Funeral Home. The Rev. Kenneth A. Kohlmann officiated. Interment in the Homer Cemetery.
