Frances Wynell Parr Ward, 87, Oro Valley, Arizona, passed away on Saturday, February 26, 2011.

Born on February 12, 1924, in Winfield, Alabama, she was the daughter of the late Ira and Euga Berryhill Parr.

Funeral services were held at Bowen Funeral Home in Winfield with burial in the West Alabama Memorial Gardens in Gu-Win. The Reverend Basil Prescott was the officiating minister. A memorial service was later held in her honor at Vistoso Community Church in Oro Valley where she had made many new friends and acquaintances.

Frances Wynell Parr married Huitte Ward on December 23, 1941, in Fulton, Mississippi. They are the parents of Melba, Brenda and Randy.

Frances was raised in Winfield, Alabama, and attended Winfield High School. She was an ordained minister in the Full Gospel Church of God headquartered in Carbon Hill, Alabama. She also studied piano and music theory at the St. Louis Institute of Music, Missouri, and taught piano lessons out of her home for many years. Ministry and music were a very important part of her life.

The Ward family moved to Illinois in the early 1950s and lived for many years in Moline, Rock Island, and Milan. During those years, Frances co-founded and served as co-pastor of the Full Gospel Church of God in Silvis, Illinois, with the Rev. Vurl Liedtke. She also taught piano lessons out of her home.

She and her husband, Huitte, returned to Winfield, Alabama, in the 1970s. Soon, thereafter, she provided long-term care for her mother, Euga Parr (1903-1978), and her mother-in-law, Autie Ward (1905-1976). She also continued to teach piano and remained active in her ministry, helping seed many churches, pastoring, and guest-speaking. She was the co-pastor of the Brilliant Independent Full Gospel Church of God in Brilliant, Alabama, for thirteen years with the Rev. Basil Prescott.

Frances moved to Oro Valley, Arizona, on February 28, 2009, to be with her daughter, Brenda. While there, she lived in the active adult community of Sun City Vistoso and attended Vistoso Community Church. She died peacefully at her Arizona home the morning of February 26, 2011, surrounded by family.

She was survived by: children, Melba (Jerry Ray) Mann, Brenda (Wesley) Minor, and Randy (Linda) Ward; grandchildren, Tolisa Ford, Kirk Ford, Melissa Gravitt Miller, Michael Gravitt Jr., Randy Ward Jr. and Brent Ward; eight great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by: husband, Willard Huitte Ward; parents, Ira and Euga Berryhill Parr; and siblings, Johnnie Grey Parr Dickinson, J.T. Parr, Betty Sue Parr Cain, Joe Morris Parr and Bobbie Searle Parr.
