Mrs. Schuster was born on October 25, 1914 in Titusville to the late D Boudinot Pritchard, and Lola Pauline (Smith) Pritchard in the home built by her paternal grandfather, Captain James Pritchard.
Mary was a lifelong communicant of St. Gabriel’s Episcopal Church, Titusville, having been baptized, confirmed, and married there. In her youth, she was a member of the Young People’s Service league and served as president. Other church activities included Women’s Auxiliary, Altar Guild, Choir, Sunday School teacher, Bible Study and Daughters of the King. She graduated from Titusville High School in 1932, going on to manage the family business, Pritchard Hardware.
Following in the footsteps of her civic-minded parents and grandparents, Mary was a member of the Sew-So Club, Charter Member of the Pilot Club, member and past President of the Junior Women’s Club, and co-founder of the North Brevard Historical Society and Museum. During WWII she served as plane spotter in Brunswick, Ga.
Mary was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and took great joy in spending time with family and friends. She enjoyed bridge and played up until shortly before her death. She was loved by many, greatly admired and a living repository of many historical facts about Titusville. Recently she received Florida Pioneer Descendant Certificates from the Florida State Genealogical Society, of which she was a member. She was the epitome of Southern Charm and will be truly missed.
Mrs. Schuster is survived by her son, James Pritchard Schuster (Jackie), daughters Johanna Kay Jones and Polly Schuster; three granddaughters, Jami Schuster Wiggins (Trevor), Alisa Jones Hundley (Trey) and Emily Perkins; and four great-grandsons, Christopher and Noah Hundley, Grady and Eli Wiggins; and, goddaughter Diane Blount Shurm.
A memorial service will be held at 10 am Wednesday, June 24, 2015 at St Gabriel’s Episcopal Church, Titusville, Florida.
