She was the widow of the late Victor Beaton Grizzard and the daughter of the late Robert Arthur Bryant and Maggie Vick Bryant of Branchville, Virginia. Edith was also predeceased by her sister Iris Bryant Curling. She was born on December 25, 1924 and was truly a gift to all. Edith was a graduate of Longwood College and taught Home Economics at Craddock High School for several years. She was a member of Boykins Baptist Church and loved dearly by her "Ruth Class".

Edith modeled daily a life enriched with grace and humility that personified a loving mother with noble character. Her family will be forever grateful for the example she lived for us.
A graveside funeral was held at 11:00 a.m., April 29, 2014 at Beechwood Cemetery with the Reverend Raymond Bunn officiating. The family received friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on April 28, 2014 at Boykins Baptist Church Fellowship Hall. Memorials were suggested for the Boykins Baptist Church in lieu of flowers.
Her family will always remember the kindness shown by the staff at Southampton Memorial Hospital throughout her illness. A special thanks is given to Ms. Dorothy, who will always be dear to our hearts for the loving care she gave to Edith.
