Kendall “Ken” Ray Anderson, 82, of Ammon, passed away June 7, 2015, at his home. He was under the care of his family and Aspen Home Health and Hospice.

Ken was born May 4, 1933, in Belleunion, Indiana, to Henry Anderson and Florence Carrington Anderson. He grew up and attended schools in San Francisco, California, graduating from Balboa High School. He served in the United States Coast Guard during the Korean War.

On November 15, 1952, he married his high school sweetheart, Sally Ann Rasbach, in San Francisco. They had two children, Corine and James. The family lived in the San Francisco Bay Area, where Ken worked as a machinist. From 1967 until his retirement in 1994, he worked for the San Francisco Chronicle Examiner newspaper.

From a young age, Ken was a hard worker. He was a good provider for his family. He could do anything he set his mind to, from remodeling the family home to building a dune buggy. He loved skiing, whether on the water or down a snow covered mountain. He panned for gold, was an avid fisherman, a great Dutch oven chef, a world traveler, and he loved to dance with his wife.

Ken had many friends and enjoyed associating with them. He belonged to the American Legion, fished with the Rod Benders Club, and drove dune buggies with the Ridge Runners. In his later years he took up woodcarving and became a master carver, winning awards for his creations. He didn’t care to sell them, but gave many away to friends and family.

He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Kendall is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Sally Anderson of Ammon, ID;
daughter, Corine Lee “Corkie” Mann of St. George, UT;
son, James Ray “Kimba” (Megan) Anderson of San Francisco, CA;
sister, Sally Kay Gonzales of Yuba City, CA;
7 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, son-in-law, Bill Mann, and great grandson, Zander Mann.
