Charles “Chuck” Sinclair Moody

Chuck Moody, age 72, passed away peacefully at his home in Siletz, Oregon on May 29th, 2015 from pancreatic cancer. Chuck was born in Douglas, MN on 6-13-1942. His family moved to Oregon when Chuck was a toddler. Chuck graduated from Toledo High School in 1960. He spent four years in the Marine Corps in Twentynine Palms, CA. After discharge from the Marine Corps he returned to Toledo and began working at Georgia Pacific paper mill as a pipe fitter/welder and later in the safety office. He retired in 1999 after 35 years at GP.

Chuck married Joyce Smith in 1966, they later divorced. He married Lynn Taylor in 1984. His many different hobbies included traveling, reading, blacksmithing, gardening, cooking, ham radio, bird watching, wood carving, sharpening knives, taming feral cats, attending the grandchildren’s games, genealogy, doing family research for anyone who asked and keeping up with the newest technology and gadgets. He was a collector of many things. His passions were family, genealogy and family history, and most recently became Sexton of the Toledo Cemetery and served on the Toledo Cemetery Board. He took great pride in the Toledo Cemetery.

Chuck had a very deep faith and was very active in his church. He made many trips to Poland, several of them mission trips and made many lifelong friends there.

Chuck is survived by his wife Lynn of 30 years, son Seth Moody of Eugene, daughters Raquel (Shane) Bonney of Molalla and Andrea Taylor of Siletz, granddaughters Tiah and Savannah Craycraft and Marissa Jarvis, siblings Eloise (Dave) Lancaster, Richard (Carl) Caspersen Moody, Marilyn (Les) Day, Rosemary (Jim) Conrad, Barbara Owen, numerous nieces and nephews, several cousins and his beloved cats Yadja and Silver. He was preceded in death by his parents Dorothy and Sinclair Moody, step mother Mae Hagen Moody, brother Kenneth and brother in law Dave Owen.

A service will be held on June 5th, 2015 at 2:00 pm at Atonement Lutheran Church in Newport, OR. A private burial will take place in the Toledo Cemetery at a later date.

Memorial donations may be made to Toledo Cemetery Association, Atonement Lutheran Church or Samaritan Pacific Hospice.
