Mrs. Cartledge French Camp Matron Dies

Mrs. Goldie Mecklin Cartledge, 90-year-old French Camp resident, died unexpectedly at her home Wednesday, Feb. 19.

Funeral services were held Thursday at 3 30 p.m. at the French Camp Presbyterian Church. Burial was in the French Camp Cemetery with Jordan Funeral Home in charge.

The Rev. Sam Patterson officiated.

She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. W. A. Hull of Memphis, Mrs. Annie Bess Boyd of Aberdeen and Mrs. I. T. Stotts of Tunica: a son, David Cartledge, of Bayton, Mo.; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Cartledge was the widow of Clyde D. Cartledge. She was a native of French Camp and was a member of the French Camp Presbyterian Church.

Serving as pallbearers were Remer Downing, Jimmy Rogers, Ed Robinson, Curtis Byrd, Luther Curtis, Harold Mills, Talmadge Branning and Sam Allen.

Goldie Mecklin was the daughter of David Remer Mecklin and Betty Creath Mecklin. She was the wife of Clyde Cartledge. They lived most of their lives together in French Camp, Miss., in a house hard by the Natchez Trace Parkway.
