Frances Dean Powers Allen, age 82, of Port Republic, went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, May 20, 2015, in Charlottesville.

She was born Nov. 19, 1932 in Rockingham County. She was preceded in death by her parents, Theodore "Joe" and Beulah Dean, husbands Frankie C. Powers and C. Leon Allen, a close friend, Charlie Branum, a step-grandson, Chad Frazier, sisters Margaret Hawse, Mary Sipes, Helen Weese, and a brother Carl Lee Dean.

She graduated from Montevideo High School in 1951, which she was very proud of. She was a very special sister, mother, grandmother, aunt, "care-giver" and a loving friend to everyone that she met. She loved camping, playing cards, family get-togethers at the holidays and cooking for the family.

She is survived by one daughter, Sandra and Bob Goodman of Timberville, four sons, Frankie C. Powers, Jr. of Harrisonburg, Richard L and Terry Powers of McGaheysville, David L. Powers and Kevin L. Allen, of Port Republic, one sister, Thelma and Jimmy Bell of McGaheysville, two brothers, Walter Dean of Grottoes, and Garland and Faye Dean of McGaheysville, a close nephew, Wilson Ashburn, of Harrisonburg, grandchildren, Farrah Erskine, Candice Hammer, Teresa Lam, David Powers, Jr., Ashley Powers, and Chelsey Allen, step-grandchildren Amy Goodman, Robin Goodman, and eight great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at the Kyger Funeral Home in Harrisonburg Friday, May 22, 2015 from 7 to 9:00 pm.

Pastor Travis Hensley and Rev. Harold Kephart will conduct a funeral service at the Kyger Funeral Home Chapel Saturday, May 23, 2015 at 2 pm. Burial will be in the Mt Olivet Cemetery in McGaheysville.
