Samuels Alexander was born Dec. 18, 1842 in Ohio, and was raised in Pennsylvania. He fell asleep in Jesus, June 26, 1917 at his home in Jackson township, Putnam County, being at the time of his death 74 years, 6 months and 8 days old.
He enlisted in the Civil War and served three years. Soon after the war he came to Putnam county, Mo., and was married to Malisia Fulton in 1867. To this union four children were born: Laura Carter of Anadarko, Oklahoma; James Alexander, of Kansas City; Icy Smith of Wyo.; William Alexander of near the home place.
He united with the Protestant Methodist church and remained a constant christian. He was a local preacher for a number of years. He was of a Godly nature and labored in the upbuilding of the neighborhood. He was laid to rest in the West Liberty cemetery. The funeral was conducted by J, W, Alexander of Pollock, Mo.
