COURTNEY BELL ALEXANDER
Courtney Bell, oldest daughter of James and Yura Hendrix, was born in Putnam County, Mo. , July 2, 1882 and departed this life, April 2, 1960 at the age of 77 years and 9 months.
July 2, 1899, she was united in marriage to William R. Alexander. To this union were born four sons and four daughters; Henry, Hercel, Lucerne, Mo., Hallie, Unionville, Mo., Herman, Rosendale, Mo., Mrs. George (Hazel) Montgomery, Mrs. Austin (Pearl) Hackney, Mrs. Verlan (May) Hackney, Unionville, Mo. and Mrs. Dean (Mable ) Bruce, Lucerne, Mo.
Early in her married life she became a member of the Methodist church and later united with the church at Union Grove near her home. She was a true Christian and a faithful attendant at church and Sunday school as long as her health permitted her to attend. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, a wonderful neighbor and true friend.
She is survived by her husband, eight childrentwenty nine grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren. Also fivebrothers: Chas. Hendrix Rosendale, Mo., James Hendrix, Kirksville, Mo., Oden Hendrix, Des Moines, Ia., Clell Hendricks, Kansas City, Mo., two sisters Anna Valentine Unionville, Mo. and Icey Morris, Kansas City, Mo., also four sons in law, four daughters in law, nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
Funeral services were conducted by the Comstock Funeral Home on April 5, 1960 at 2:00 p.m by Rev. Melvin Baldwin. Interment in West Liberty cemetery, Putnam County, Missouri.
