Orville N. Fleming Jr. of Greenbackville, VA, 58, passed away Saturday, May 2, 2015 at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland.

Born and raised in Greenbackville, Virginia, Orville resided in a self-built home by the water with his wife, Cathy. He enjoyed the quiet calm of sailing, woodworking, music, astronomy, spending time with his wife and family and was an avid amateur radio operator using morse code for most of his communication with fellow operators. Orville attended Del-Tech where he obtained an Associates degree in Architectural Design and later graduated from UMES with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering. He spent many years working for Dresser Industries in Salisbury and for NSROC at Wallops Island Flight Facility. Orville was a member of Union United Methodist Church in Greenbackville, VA and served many positions within the church throughout his life. He was also a member of the Eastern Shore Amateur Radio Club and FISTS CW Club. He was an amazing husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend and a true testament of the book of Job.

He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Cathy; his daughter, Katy Fleming and her boyfriend, Darin Dick; his sister, Mary Burton (Ken); sisters in law, Tammy Riley (Martin), Kitty Pickavance, Billie Ann Horner (Lawrence), and JoSue Carroll (Dean); aunts, Lois Williams (Dale) and Mary Powell; special cousin, Susie Cole (David); and several cousins, nieces and nephews. Orville is preceded in death by his parents, Betty and Orville N. Fleming, Sr.

There will be a viewing on Wednesday night from 7-9 PM at Fox Funeral Home in Temperanceville, VA with funeral services following on Thursday, May 7th at Union United Methodist Church in Greenbackville at 2 PM with visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Greenback-Union Cemetery.
