Ms. JoAnne “Joie” Marie Abel, age 66 of Owensboro passed away on Wednesday May 6, 2015 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. Joie was born on December 30, 1948 to late Joseph V. and Lura B. (Burden) Abel.

Joie was a member of St. Joseph and Paul Catholic Church.

Survivors include: brother: Joseph (Robin) Abel, sisters: Angela (Tommy) Maxwell, Gina (Allan) King, nieces: Christy Dalton, Lindsey (Kris) Hughes, Rachael (Drew) Frey, nephews: Stephen Maxwell, Matthew Abel, Spencer King, great nieces: Kira Maxwell, Matissie Dalton, great nephew: Jack Hughes, all from Owensboro.

Joie was preceded in death by: her parents.

God blessed this earth with an angel beyond compare, her smile and loving kindness will be missed by all the lives she touched; but while hearts are heavy, we know she is with her beloved mother in heaven. The family would like to say “THANKS” to the following caregivers and friends of the Active Day, Community Alternative of Kentucky, both of Owensboro.

Funeral services will be on Monday May 11, 2015 at 10:00am at St. Joseph and Paul Catholic Church with Father Carl McCarthy officiating, with visitation on Sunday May 9, 2015 from 3:00pm – 6:00pm at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory, with prayers at 4:30pm, and Monday after 9:00am. Burial will be in the Resurrection Cemetery.
