Karen Lydia Hellmer (nee Spindler), age 72, of Plymouth, passed away peacefully into the arms of her Lord on May 5, 2015 at Woodland Village at Rocky Knoll Health Care Facility after a courageous 13 year battle with Lupus. She was born at home near Howards Grove, WI, on July 10, 1942 a daughter of the late Norman Spindler Sr. and Elsa (Schneider) Spindler. Karen attended Schwartzvald School and later graduated from Kiel High School in 1960. On November 9th, 1963 she married Allen Hellmer at Salem United Church of Christ in Plymouth. Together they ran a dairy and hog farm near Cascade. Karen was a very loving, dedicated and hard-working farm wife and mother. Karen was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Cascade where she sang for many funerals and weddings. She directed and sang with the choir for many years and was also a member of the Mission Circle at St. Paul’s. Karen also sang with the Milk Maids barbershop quartet and the Chord-a-lettes for many years. She was also a volunteer 4-H leader in vocal music for the Parnell Pals 4-H club. Karen enjoyed singing, gardening and participating in many card clubs with her husband, family and friends. She also enjoyed being a fan of the Packers, Badgers and Brewers. Karen is survived by her wonderful and loving husband of 51 years: Allen of Plymouth. She has two Sons: Brian (Annette) Hellmer of Madison and Michael of Austin, Texas; Two daughters: Brenda (Daniel) Klamert of Oconomowoc and Tina (David) Sadler of Toronto, Ontario, Canada; Two granddaughters: Monica and Valerie Hellmer; Four grandsons: Nathan and Carson Klamert and Evan and Ian Sadler. She is also survived by One sister-in-law: Shirley Spindler of Manitowoc; Eight brothers and sisters: Robert (Violet) Spindler of Howards Grove, Earl (Delores) Spindler of Little Chute, Darlean (Lloyd) Rumpff of Kiel, Glen (Karen) Spindler of Sheboygan Falls, Roger Spindler of Appleton, Jane (Duane) Enders of Plymouth, Janice (Frank) Hollenberger of Plymouth, Dale (Bonnie) Spindler of Sheboygan. She was preceded in death by her parents, mother and father in-law: Arthur and Doris Hellmer; one Brother Norman Spindler Jr. and sister-in-law: Lois Spindler. Funeral services will be on Tuesday morning (May 12) at 11:00 A.M. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Cascade. Rev. Richard Bidinger, pastor of the church will officiate. Burial will be in St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery in Cascade. Visitation will be held on Monday (May 11) from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Suchon Funeral Home in Plymouth and at the CHURCH on Tuesday Morning from 9:30 A.M. until the time of services.
