Country Singer and Songwriter. The youngest of seven children born in Greenway, Arkansas, he supposedly got the nickname "Skeets" because of the mosquitoes that plagued him in the cotton fields near his home. In the 1930s he traveled to Michigan and formed his first band. After serving overseas during World War II, he returned to Michigan and continued his musical career. McDonald's best-known hit was "Don't Let The Stars Get In Your Eyes", written by Slim Willet, which topped the charts in 1952. He remained true to his Country and Western roots throughout his career, which took him to Nashville and finally Los Angeles, where he appeared regularly on television. He died in Inglewood, California.
