Dennis Ray Bierma (Poppy), 54, passed away on Sunday, May 3, 2015, at his home surrounded by his loving family, in Idaho Falls. He was born on March 9, 1961, in Idaho Falls, to Merle R. and Marjorie L. Giles Bierma. He attended O. E. Bell Junior High and Butte High School. He served in the National Guard in Idaho Falls. He married Jackielyn Lewis on February 11, 1984 and were later sealed in the Idaho Falls Temple for time and eternity on August 3, 1985. He grew up in the Idaho Falls area and Arco area and lived with his great foster parents, Lee and Denise Simmons in Arco. He worked for Service Master, Cart Transportation, Development Workshop and INL Site cleaning, supervising janitorial work, maintenance and carpets, for over 20 years in Idaho Falls facilities. He loved his work.

Dennis was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. His favorite church calling was Webelos Scouts and helping to teach primary.

Dennis loved mudding, camping, driving around the mountains and working on cars with his friends and sons. Dennis would give the shirt off his back to anyone or would give them his last dollar. He was funny and loving.

Survivors include his wife, Jackielyn Lewis Bierma of Ucon; children, Misty Bierma (Ben) Ashley of Ucon, Melanie Bierma (Tyler Stevens) Swanson of Idaho Falls, Melissa O'Connor Bierma of Pocatello, Mandy Bierma (Shane) Starnes of Idaho Falls, Matthew (Ashley) Bierma of Idaho Falls, Maylyn Bierma (Dallon) Loertscher of Ucon, Mitchall (Reagan) Bierma of Idaho Falls, Megan (Adrian Escobar) Bierma of Idaho Falls, Taleigha Spencer of Ucon and Shane Shears of Ammon; mother-in-law, Afton Lewis of Preston; sisters, Lisa (Gary) Jones of Ammon, and Carolyn Busch of Idaho Falls; brother, Richard Bierma of Idaho Falls; chosen children, Mya Buchin Hokanson and Jason Buchin Hokanson, both of Ammon; twenty five grandchildren and numerous brother and sister-in laws. He was preceded in death by his parents, Merle and Marjorie Bierma, sister, Evagene Killian, father-in-law Thomas H. Lewis, grandparents Bessie and John Giles Sr., and grand daughter Nehemyah Dawn Niendorf.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 on Thursday, May 7, 2015, at the Ucon LDS Stake Center, 2967 E. 105th N. in Idaho Falls, with Bishop Michael Gifford, officiating. Burial will follow at the Ucon Cemetery. A viewing for family and friends will be held on Wednesday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Buck-Miller-Hann Funeral Home, 825 E. 17th Street in Idaho Falls, and one hour prior to the services at the church.
