Alma Bandy Sipe, 97, of Conover passed away on Monday, Sept. 10, 2012 at Conover Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Born April 8, 1915, Alma was the daughter of the late Pinkney Bandy and Rebecca Caldwell Bandy. She was a member of Mt. Ruhama Baptist Church in Maiden where she had helped with Girls in Action. Alma helped Dr. Allen Bandy Sr. create the Bandy Family History Book and organize the Bandy Family Reunion.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Henry Sipe; a son, Kenneth Sipe; daughter-in-law, Claudia Sipe; brothers, Amos, Leonard, Harvey, and Lloyd Bandy; sisters, Bertha B. Robinson, Cordia B. Wilkinson, Lola B.Drum, Lyda B. Hovis, Hazel B. Hubbard, and Colleen B. Barringer.
Survivors include her son, D. Wayne Sipe of Conover; and daughter-in-law, Sandra Y. Sipe, of Newton; granddaughter, Susan Sipe Bunch of Clemmons; great-grandchildren, Evan Bunch and Cameron Bunch of Clemmons; sister, Macel B. Drum of Newton; brother-in-law, Charles Hubbard of Newton; sisters-in-law, Sarah Bandy of Newton, and Frances Bandy of Virginia.
A service of remembrance will be at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2012 at Mt. Ruhama Baptist Church with Rev. Guy Helms officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Her family will receive friends 3-3:45 p.m. Wednesday prior to the service.
Memorials may be made to Mt. Ruhama Baptist Church, 3273 Mt. Ruhama Church Road, Maiden, NC 28650.
