Nellie E. Sturgeon, age 93, of Bloomington, passed away at Richland Bean Blossom Health Care Center on Thursday, April 9, 2015.
Nellie was born on April 11, 1921 in Owen County to Ralph Walden and Jennie (Swafford) Walden. She worked at RCA as a tester/assembler until her retirement. Nellie attended Lifeway Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Bill Meadows (1964), and Bill Sturgeon (1997); daughter, Sharon Hillerman; granddaughter, Kim Hillerman; grandson, Gary Meadows; brothers, Willie Walden, Ralph Walden, Jr., and Edgar Walden; and sisters, Mary, Hazel and Ellen Walden.
Nellie is survived by her son, Harold Meadows and wife, Margaret; sister, Rose Keller and husband, Fred; grandson, Greg (Shawn) Meadows; granddaughter, Karra (John) Gwaltney; three great-grandsons; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at Chandler Funeral Home on Monday, April 13, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. with burial to follow at Valhalla Memory Gardens. Friends may call upon the family at the funeral home on Sunday from 2-6 p.m.
