James Aubrey Joyce, 89 of Pilot Mountain, NC, passed away on Monday, April 6, 2015.

He was born in Stokes County on November 4, 1925 to the late William Ausborn Joyce and Maxie Lee Lynch Joyce.

He was a member of Volunteer Primitive Baptist Church and served on the Board of Directors of Surry Yadkin for 26 years.

He is survived by his loving wife, Doris Ann Hall Joyce; son, Stephen Joyce and wife, Diane; three brothers, Swanson Joyce and wife, Ruby, Frank Joyce and wife, Doris, Jack A. Joyce and wife, Dorothy Sue; three sisters, Ruby Lee Joyce and the late, Rev. Jack Joyce, Iona “Tip” Mitchell, Nancy “Doodle” Smith and husband, Ray; two grandchildren, Whitney Long and husband, Jake, Corbin Bedsaul; several nieces and nephews.

Proceeding him in death were his parents; two brothers, Tommy A. Joyce and Elder William Junior Joyce.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, April 8, 2015 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at Cox-Needham Funeral home in Pilot Mountain.

Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, April 9, 2015 at Volunteer Primitive Baptist Church at 2:00 PM with Elder Jeff Whitaker and Elder Gary Lowe officiating. Internment will follow in the church cemetery.
