Bennie Jones, 76, of Port Wentworth, died Oct. 27 at Hospice Savannah. He was born in Bolton, N.C., and lived in Port Wentworth for 54 years. He was an Army veteran of World War II.

He attended Bonnybridge Baptist Church and the Men's Sunday School Class. He was a retired carpenter and a member of Carpenters Union Local No. 256.

SURVIVORS: his wife, Harriet Jones of Port Wentworth; a son and daughter-in-law, Walker Jones and Judy Jones, both of Bloomingdale; a daughter, Kay Walker of Prattville, Ala.; four grandchildren, Wil Jones of Bloomingdale, Lori Jones Barlow of Guyton, Susie DeLoach of Millbrook, Ala., and Jamie Walker of Prattville; three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

FUNERAL: 11 a.m. Saturday at Bonnybridge Baptist Church in Port Wentworth, burial in Hillcrest Abbey Memorial Park. -Savannah Now, Oct 1999
