He was born in Taunton, attended St. Mary’s Grammar School and Monsignor James Coyle High School.
Frank was an excellent pianist, and is remembered for his wonderful renditions of numerous Frankie Carle songs and for his thespian abilities in many plays performed at Coyle High.
After graduation from Coyle High in 1943, he joined the U.S. Navy during World War Two, and served at the Amphibious Base in Little Creek, Virginia and later in Norman, Oklahoma, in the Classification Branch, U.S. Naval Personnel.
After receiving an Honorable Discharge when the war ended, Frank entered Fordham University, receiving his undergraduate degree in 1950. He taught school in Norton, Massachusetts and Fort Lauderdale, Florida. While teaching at Norton, Frank composed the song “The Safety Patrol”, which became the theme song for members of the school Safety Patrol.
He is survived by his stepson, Brad Coyle, of Smyrna, Georgia. He is also survived by a brother, William E. Coyle of Bethel Park, Pa., and several nephews and nieces.
