Gary NEWSOME Beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and friend lost his long fight with cancer March 19, 2009. We were inspired by his spirit and determination in his battle with cancer even as he dealt with one setback after another taking each in stride determined to resolve the current issue and deal with the next. Gary was born in Salt Lake City Utah on March 5th 1940 to Richard and Ruth Newsome. He worked in construction and construction management until his retirement in 2005. He was married 47 years to his best friend, Beverly and raised 2 children, Tammy and Scott. In 1968 they relocated to Woodinville, WA from California to raise their family.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years Beverly; daughter Tammy (Paul) Neuman and their 3 children; Kara, Dakota, and Jennifer (Jason) Bembers, Great Grandson Jacob. Son Scott (Kim) Newsome, and their two sons Tristan and Tyler. Siblings Mike (Jane) Newsome, Robert (Karen) Newsome, Dennis, Sheila (Bruce), Debbie (Randy), Sister in law Marcy. Preceded in death by Brother David (December 08) and Sister in law Sharon (March 08).
Gary was an avid hunter and fisherman taking trips with family and friends as well as enjoying many different hobbies. He spent 30 years as District 8 Administrator for Little League Baseball. One of his greatest accomplishments in Little League was starting the Challengers Baseball program with his wife. His biggest rewards were the many friends that he met through Little League Baseball and knowing that he helped make a positive impact on our youth. Gary's greatest joy in life was spending time with his family. Gary touched many lives in his journey and will be deeply missed by his family. The family wishes to express sincere appreciation to many caregivers that helped in his care, we could not have gone through this without them.
Funeral Services will be held at Floral Hills Funeral Home, 409 Filbert Road, Lynnwood, WA 98036, on Wednesday March 25th, 2009
