M He was the husband of the late Gertrude A. (Belanger) Allen . Born in Attleboro, a son of the late George A. and Elizabeth G. (Dwyer) Allen , he had lived in Smithfield for 15 years before settling in Providence 20 years ago.
Mr. Allen had been as a librarian at Brown University for 8 years, until retiring in 1993, and previously had been a plater at Uncas Mfg. Co. from 1975 to 1985.
He was a Navy veteran of World War II.
He leaves three daughters, Mary Moretti and Florence M. Allen -Chalifoux, both of Pawtucket, and Elizabeth Betters of Central Falls; seven grandchildren; and a great-grandson. He was the brother of the late Edward and Florence M. Allen and Doris Chapin.
The funeral will be on Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the J.F. Skeffington Chapel, 925 Chalkstone Ave. Burial will be in Highland Memorial Park, Johnston.
