Richard F. Brace, 90, passed away Saturday, March 7, 2015 at Parkview Hospital Randallia in Fort Wayne. Richard was born in Huntingburg, IN, to Christian and Clara Brace. He received a degree from Purdue and worked as a Drafting Supervisor with ITT Aerospace for 36 years, retiring in 1985. He was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church, American Legion Post 47, Flying Circuits Inc., ITT Old Timers Club, and The Society of Antique Modelers. He served in the United States Navy during WWII and was a survivor of the sinking USS Bismarck Sea. He was at the battle of Iwo Jima and witnessed the raising of both US flags. Surviving are his son, Steven C. (Susan) Brace of Fort Wayne; daughter, Linda R. (Richard) Meyers of Fort Wayne; and son, William R. (Tonja) Brace of Leo; 10 Grandchildren; 13 Great Grandchildren; sister, Carolyn Volz of Fort Wayne; several nieces and nephews; and special friend, Mary Schimmele of Fort Wayne. Richard was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Ruthelise Brace; parents, Christian and Clara Brace; twin brother, Robert Brace; and sister, Doris Jean Brace. Funeral Service is at 11:00 am, Thursday, March 12, 2015 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 3425 Crescent Avenue with calling 1 hour prior. Pastor Mark A. Neubacher officiating. Calling also Wednesday, March 11, 2015, 3:00 pm - 8:00 pm at D.O. McComb and Son's Maplewood Park Funeral Home, 4017 Maplecrest Rd. Burial in Concordia Cemetery Gardens, Fort Wayne.
