Meldia Jane Guffey, 91, of Kokomo passed away at 4:10 PM on Sunday, March 8, 2015 at Kindred Transitional Care of Kokomo. Born on October 3, 1923 in Wayne County, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Elmer and Dora Mae Snow. She was married to Virgil Garfield Guffey and he preceded her in death on May 21, 1967. She was a homemaker who enjoyed shopping at Walmart with her children, coloring, and walking with her dog.
She is survived by one son James A. (Ruth) Guffey of Pierceton, Indiana; one daughter Gloria A. (Raymond) Tritt of Kokomo, Indiana; 12 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son Jerry Lee Guffey, one brother and seven sisters.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM Friday, March 13, 2015 at Ellers Mortuary Main Street Chapel, 725 S. Main Street, Kokomo. Pastor Charlie Riley will officiate. Burial will follow in Brookside Cemetery, Windfall, Indiana. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services at the mortuary.
