ST. JOE – Richard D “Hoss” McKown, 76, of St. Joe passed away Tuesday, March 10, 2015, at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne.

He was born August 12, 1938, in Fort Wayne to Jerry and Bernice (Rumbaugh) McKown.

Richard worked at Dana Spicer Clutch in Fort Wayne for 30 years, retiring in 1996.

He was a member of the County Line Church of God. He was a member of the original County Line Quartet calling themselves the Brush College Quartet.

He played for a number of years in the Dana Golf League. In August of 2005, he got a hole in one at Willow Ridge Golf Course.

He married Mary Gonser on August 12, 1961, in Bryan, Ohio, and she survives in St. Joe. He is also survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Sheila and Kevin Reinig of St. Joe; a granddaughter, Courtney (Benjamin) Slone of Waterloo; four great-grandchildren, Aryona Abbott, Mason Slone, Brady Slone, and Samual Slone; his siblings, Larry “Mack” (Sharon) McKown of Fort Wayne, and Darlene (Conan “Moose”) Myers of Columbia City; a sister-in-law, Joyce McKown of Auburn; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Tom McKown.
