Michael Stephen “Mike” Salyer, 57, of Sandston, Va., passed away Sunday, March 8, 2015.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Wayne “Sport” Salyer; father and mother-in-law, Franklin and Louise Hall; and a nephew, Bernie Hall.
Mike is survived by his wife, Nancy H. Salyer; two children, Steven Salyer (Sarah) and Danielle Nowell (Steven); his mother, Edna Cooler Salyer; his father, Johnnie Salyer (Sissy). He is also survived by four grandchildren, Michael Steven Salyer, Gavin Cole Salyer, Ella Coleen Salyer and Bodie Dwight Nowell; his goddaughters, Jessica, Tracey and Casey Felts; four brothers-in-law, five sisters-in-law, and two close friends, Keith and Shane Carroll.
The family will receive friends 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, March 12, 2015, at Vincent Funeral Home, 9923 Pocahontas Trail, Providence Forge, Va., with the funeral service at 1 p.m. Graveside service will follow in Washington Memorial Park, Sandston, Va.
The family would like to thank everyone for their support, prayers and visits during the course of Mike’s illness. He was sick for numerous years, but is now pain free, playing practical jokes in Heaven and telling all of his great hunting stories to his friends who left before him. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the VCU Massey Cancer Center.
