Frederick “Frenchy” Bernard Pierre Palazzi Jr., 79, of Cowan Road, passed away Wednesday, March 4, 2015.

Fred was born July 2, 1935, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to the late Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Palazzi. He had resided in many areas throughout the United States before making his home in Haywood County for the past 30 years. He was honored to be a United States Coast Guard veteran. Fred was employed as a retail salesman and was also the inventor and promoter for his own product, Eye Glass Cleaner by Frederick. He had attended Maple Grove Baptist Church. Fred will always be remembered for his outgoing and friendly personality and the fact that he never ever met a stranger. He could often be found sharing stories and a cup of coffee with his many friends at the McDonald's morning breakfast club. Fred was a loving companion, father and grandfather and his dear precious memory shall be cherished forever.

Surviving are his loving companion of 28 years, Mildred Cowan, of Canton; daughters, Eva Marie Palazzi, of Tennessee, Barbara Swann, of Canton, Priscilla Silver, of Canton, and Carolyn Earley, of Canton; sons, Frederick Palazzi III, Horace “Butch” Ballew, of Asheville, Robert Ballew, of Lebanon, Kentucky, Richard Ballew, of England, and Andrew Cowan, of Canton; 16 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren and many dear friends.

The funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, March 10, in the chapel of Crawford/Ray Funeral Home. The Rev. Tommy Carlisle will be officiating. Burial will be in Pisgah View Memorial Park in Candler. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the funeral service.
