Chester Ellis Deal, 95, of Claremont passed away Sunday, March 1, 2015 at his residence.
Born November 7, 1919 in Catawba County to the late Tilford Lee and Hattie Mae Hunsucker Deal. Mr. Deal was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church in Claremont. He served in the United States Merchant Marines and retired as a carpenter foreman with Duke Power after 21 years of service.
Chester was known for his love of family, travel and helping others.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers; Fred Deal, David Deal and Robert Deal, Glen Deal, sisters; Ruby Deal Robinson, Ruth Deal, Floy Deal Yount Deal, Nannie Rae Deal Overcash Carpenter, and great-grandchildren; Jessica Rena Deal and Jonathon Carter Jennings.

A service to celebrate Chester’s life will be held on Wednesday, March 4, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Bethel Lutheran Church in Claremont. Rev. Eric Hollar and Rev. Mike Ramey will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military grave honors by American Legion Post 16.
