Early Life: David was born January 7, 1953, to Don Jay and Corrine Jolley Applegate in Cedar City, Utah. He graduated from Snake River High School in Pocatello, Idaho, where he was a state wrestling champion, placing 6th at the National High School Wrestling Championship held in Oklahoma.
Life's Work | Service | Interests: David attended Ricks College, Brigham Young University and Idaho State University. He was a chemist by trade. He was also a professional horse jockey. His hobbies included playing the guitar, drawing, photography and genealogy. As an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he was a high priest and served in the Young Men organization, as well as ward clerk. He married LaWana MarJean Pace on May 16, 1980, in the Salt Lake Temple. David Masiel Applegate passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on February 26, 2015, at Utah Valley Regional Medical in Provo, Utah. He was 62.
Survived By: His wife; his six children: Stacee Ann, Aaron (Jessie), Amanda (Justin), Aarik (Jessica), Anthony and Adam; 14 grandchildren: Auston, Alex, Aspyn, Kadin, Kayden, Brendan, Mason, Sadie, Damian, Ethan, Konnor, Mckenzie, Parker and one on the way; his mother; brothers: Steven, Chris, Don Jay and Derek; sisters: Evalee, Mary Ann, and Corrine; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Preceded In Death By: His father, Don Jay; and sisters, Mickie and Karrie Lyn.
