Delmar W. Neuenschwander, 88, Berne, passed away Tuesday, February 24, 2015 at Swiss Village. He was born to Joel and Cora(Winteregg)Neuenschwander on January 21, 1927 in Adams County. He married Dessie Habegger on June 27, 1948.
Delmar was a member of the First Missionary Church and was former owner of the Berne Locker. He served as mayor of Berne for 2 terms and was a member of the city council for over 20 years. Delmar enjoyed all sports, fishing, and watching his grandchildren play sports.
Survivors include 3 sons and 3 daughters; Dana(Kit)McClung of Portland, Don Neuenschwander of Berne, Daunita Jo(Kurt)Gerig of Berne, Doug(Joanne)Neuenschwander of Berne, Dian(Dave)Givens of Berne, Dave(Christy)Neuenschwander of Warren, sisters; Floine(George)Dynes, Willodyne(Harry)Luginbill, Marjorie(William)Simon all of Berne, sister-in-laws Betty Neuenschwander of Berne, Pauline Habegger of Fort Wayne, brother-in-law Howard Pharr of Linn Grove, 12 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild.
Preceding in death is his wife, Dessie, brothers; Sherman, LeOrace Neuenschwander, sisters; Ramona Schwartz, Vergene Yake, Ellowyne Schindler, and 1 great-grand daughter, Emerri Henry.
Funeral services are Sunday, March 1, 2015 at 3:00 pm at the First Missionary Church with visitation 1 hour prior to services. Visitation also Saturday, February 28, from 2-8 pm at the First Missionary Church Fellowship Hall. Officiating is Pastor Max Haines and Pastor Dethen Foust. Burial is in the MRE Cemetery.
