James "Jim" Alan Shawver, 63, of New Haven, passed away on Monday, February 23, 2015 at home with his family by his side. Born in Portland, he was the son of the late Helen and Merle Shawver and was a 1970 graduate of Portland High School. He was a member of Cedar Creek Church of Christ, Fort Wayne. He was a salesman for over 20 years in the water industry. He retired from the US Army in 1996 and was a member of American Legion Post 43, Decatur.

He is survived by his daughters, Dawn (Shawn) Swope of New Haven and April (William) Marker of Monroeville; siblings, Peter Shawver of Farmland, Jeff (Alana) Shawver, Diane Shawver, Tammy Shawver, Nancy Shawver; and Karen Shawver all of Portland; and grandchildren, Brandon, Brittany, Victoria, and Matthew Marker, Taylor, Bailey, and Casey Swope.

Funeral service is 2 p.m. Friday, February 27, 2015 at E. Harper & Son Funeral Home, 740 St. Rd. 930 E., New Haven with calling one hour prior. Preacher Mike Kaufman officiating. Calling is also 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, February 26, 2015 at the funeral home. Burial in I.O.O.F. Cemetery, New Haven with military honors. Preferred memorials are to Cancer Services of Northeast Indiana.
