Merry C. Hahnert, 67, passed away Sunday, February 22, 2015 at Summit City Nursing Home in Fort Wayne. Born in Fort Wayne, Merry retired from Insurance & Risk Management as an accountant and assistant controller. She was a1965 graduate of Concordia High School and 1981 graduate of Richmond Community College, past Auxiliary President of American Legion Post 241, Waynedale, where she was a member for over 45 years. Merry enjoyed bowling, reading and loved her family. Surviving are her husband of 47 years, Rick Hahnert of Kendallville; son, Robert Hahnert of Fort Wayne; daughters, Jennifer (Kevin) Mahoney of Huntington, and Cynthia Witte of Kendallville; sisters, Karen Cramer of Fort Wayne, Anna Huffman of Independence, MO, and Pat (Bill) Greve of Fort Wayne; and 4 granddaughters. Merry was preceded in death by parents, Robert and Martha Hower; and sister, Phyllis Bly. Service is 2 p.m. Thursday at D.O. McComb & Sons Covington Knolls Funeral Home, 8325 Covington Rd. with calling 1 hour prior. Calling also 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial in Covington Memorial Gardens.
