Walter L. Hildum, 82, of Bloomington, passed away on Saturday February 14, 2015 at the Bloomington Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Walter was born February 20, 1932 in Oolitic, IN and was the son of the late Claude Hubert and Cora Hildum. He was a Navy Veteran having served in the Korean War aboard the USS Prairie 8015 Supply Repair Ship. He worked various jobs throughout his life working as a tree trimmer, worked in the landfill and also worked for Pete’s Mayflower. Survivors include his daughters; Jean Hudson of Shelbyville, Shelley Nisbet of Bloomington, Connie Lemons and Rosie Hildum both of Bedford, 19 grandchildren, and several great grandchildren. Walter was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, Rosalie Hildum, second wife, Janis Hildum, daughters, Sherry Simmons, and Bonnie Bray, son, Val Meek and two sisters. Graveside services for Walter will be 3:00 pm Wednesday February 18, 2015 at Valhalla Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 1:30 pm – 2:30 pm at The Funeral Chapel of Powell and Deckard on Wednesday.
