Suggested edit: Duke William Sumner was a horse breeder and horse racer. He was murdered for his money and his horses were stolen. His remains were found a week later. Both murderers were eventually captured, found guilty, and were hung. Newspapers across the U. S. included phases of this saga. Duke is the son of Isaac Watts Sumner and Elizabeth Paradise Sumner. He married Martha Caroline Mooney (1850-1926).
