Gladys Verle Brannon was born in Guelph, North Dakota on February 11, 1930, to Chester "Harry" and Blanche Belle Wilmsen Engle. She was the sixth child of seven: Chester "Chet" Harry Engle Jr. (Audrie), Ardith Luella Day (Hal), Audrie Elsie Haug (James), Davy Kirk Engle (Mickie), Elaine Katherine Greenwood and Janet Blanche Greenwood (Don).

While still an infant, her family moved to Hecla, SD. When Gladys was in the fourth grade the family moved to Frederick, SD. She lived in Frederick until she graduated from Frederick High School in 1948.

She then moved to Kansas City, MO to attend flight attendant school. She was too short to be a stewardess, so she worked at the front desk selling tickets.

While in Kansas City she met and married William Holland Prindle on September 16, 1950. They had five children: Barbara Ann Collins (Dennis), of Henderson, NV, Patricia Lea Prindle (died at birth), Gloria Jean Horrocks (Lynn) and William "Skip" Holland Prindle III (Nancy), both of Rexburg, and Robert Blake Prindle, of Oroville, WA.

Gladys and her family moved to Livermore, CA in 1960. Gladys and Bill Prindle divorced in 1970. Then in 1970 they remarried each other and moved to Orleans, CA, where they owned a café. Gladys was the cook and ran the café until she and Bill divorced again in 1973.

Gladys and her two sons, Skip and Blake, then moved to McKinleyville, CA, where she worked in a restaurant as a cook. In McKinleyville she met Bill Brannon. Bill owned some land in Stilwell, OK, so they moved to Oklahoma and got married on August 25, 1980. They raised horses on the ranch until Bill died as the result of an accident in May of 1996.

In 1997 she joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. In 1999, Gladys moved to Rexburg, ID and lived with her daughter, Gloria.

In 2000 Gladys served a Family History mission in Salt Lake City, UT for one year. She then returned to Rexburg and served several family history missions from home. When the Rexburg Temple was completed in 2008 she began serving in the recording office of the temple.

She stopped working in the temple after suffering a heart attack in the beginning of 2015. Her health never recovered after surgery to put in a stent. She suffered from Parkinson's disease as well, which rapidly progressed after her health declined.

Gladys quietly left this world on April 28, 2015 at 2:35 pm. while at her daughter Gloria's home in Rexburg. She will forever be missed. Gladys was affectionately referred to as the "Energizer Bunny" because she was always doing and going. Gladys has left the building.

Memorial services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 2, 2015 at the Rexburg 19th Ward, located at 2332 W 2000 S, Rexburg, Bishop Robert Tietjen officiating.
