She was a longtime resident of Rhea County, worked at Oyster Corporation for many years and was a member and very active in the Dayton Church of Christ.
She is preceded in death by her husband, James Earl Lawson and 2nd husband, Alva Lewis Akin; one son, James Andrew (Jimmy) Lawson; her parents, Andrew Jackson and Minerva Burgess Mercer; three sisters, and two brothers.
She is survived by ten step-children, Dennis (Punkin) Akin, Ray Akin, Glenn Akin, Bill Akin, Denise Ruiz all of Dayton, Tn. Kaye Miller of Cleveland, Ohio. Patty Filbin of North Ridgeville, Ohio, Dee Akin of Chattanooga, Tn. Dale Akin of Rockford, Illinois, Ron Akin of Rocky River, Ohio. Several nieces and nephews.
