Thurman Park Maine, born July 30, 1888, was a well liked and respected Doctor of Medicine in North Stonington, Norwich, and Mystic, Ct areas. He was son of Isaac and Betsy Maine and one of 9 children. Educated in local North Stonington schools he also graduated from New London School of Business before entering Medico-Chirurgica College in PA which eventually merged with the University of Pennsylvania. He married Harriet Maria Miner on December 25, 1910 and received his doctor of medicine in 1912. In 1915 they moved to N. Stonington with their first daughter Katherine. They went on to have 2 more daughters, Eleanor, 1916, and Ruth, 1919 as well as a son, Richard, 1927. Dr. Main was active in local politics and served as State Representative from N. Stonington. He was a prominent member of the Free and Accepted Masons as well as Medical Examiner and Health Officer of N. Stonington. In 1929 the family moved to Mystic, where his successful medical practice grew even larger. He died on Oct. 20, 1945 from injuries suffered in an automobile accident.
