Almost two years after marrying on April 3rd, 1912; Esau and Luella Cunningham welcomed their first of eight children on March 10th, 1914. They named her Telefar Laura Bain.

She recieved her education at the All Age School in Crooked Island and upon completion moved to Nassau in order to seek employment and take care of her siblings who were still living at the family homestead in Colonel Hill.

She met and fell in love with Herman Theodore Bain and they were married on December 27th, 1936. They were the proud parents of nine children. Her husband, Herman predeceased her in 1978. Two of her children predeceased her as well; Roger Bain and Olga Nimmo.

She was one who served her family unselfishly. She was known for her 3:00 am prayer time when she covered them all in prayer. She was faithful to God, family and Church. She served as prayer band leader for many years. Zion Baptist Church was her place of worship from 1940 until the time of her passing.

She worked for many years giving her time to those who were sick and shut-in at Princess Margaret Hospital, Persis Rodgers Home for the Aged and The Geriatric Hospital. She prayed with each patient for their healing and their overall well being. She never believed in visiting the sick empty handed. She always made sure everyone had a bag of goodies. She was a loving and caring person who always thought about others and lived her life for this cause.

She travelled extensively to the United States and Family Islands, serving her Lord and Master with Zion United Baptist Convention and the Bahamas National Baptist Convention.

Valentine's Day, 2008 she suffered a stroke and was admitted to hospital where she recieved medical attention and was later discharged on Monday, May 17th, 2008. On Friday, May 28th, 2008 she became very ill and was taken by ambulance back to the hospital and there she stayed until her demise on Saturday, March 29th, 2008, 19 days after her 94th birth date. She peacefully and quietly exchanged time for eternity at exactly 10:55 AM. She went to be with her Lord.

Left to cherish her memory are her children: Erma Williams (George), Harry Bain, Monica Allen (Larry), Eddison Bain Sr. (Jewel), Herman Bain Jr., Jennifer Bain and Lerlean Carey (Roderick).
