Asheville - Talmadge Dewey Roberts Jr., 68, of 15 Lance Lane, Asheville, went to be with his Lord on Wednesday, May 19, 2004, at
Mission Hospitals following a long battle with liver disease while awaiting a liver transplant.
A lifelong resident of Buncombe County, he was a member and graduate of the Weaverville High School Class of 1954 and was a U.S. Army veteran. He was a member of Sunrise Baptist Church, where he was a deacon and former music director. He retired in 1998 after 42 years from Citizens Home Center, where he served as the office manager.
Mr. Roberts was the son of the late Talmadge Dewey Roberts Sr. and Faye Cowan Roberts. He was also preceded in death by his brother, John W. Roberts.
Surviving are his wife of 45 years, Patricia Clark Roberts of the home; son, the Rev. Christopher S. Roberts and wife, Janet, of Hendersonville; his two precious grandchildren with whom he was a great Papaw, Tara and Nathan; sister, Euleen Edwards of Alexander; brother, Clifford Roberts
and wife, Fredia, of Winston-Salem; mother-in-law, Geneva Clark of Asheville; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Sunrise Baptist Church with the Rev. Bill Higgins and the Rev. Dr. Greg T. Mathis officiating. Burial will be in Pisgah
View Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be the deacons of Sunrise Baptist Church and honorary pallbearers will be the members of the Weaverville High School Class of 1954.
