Daughter of Willie Calvin "Buck" Saunders & Cora Odella "Dell" Montague. Wife of Frank Wm. Midgett, Sr. (ma. Feb 5, 1921).

WANCHESE - Bernice Saunders Midgett, 89, of Wanchese, died January 14 in a local nursing home. Mrs. Midgett was a native of Dare County, the daughter of Willie Calvin and Della Montague Saunders and the widow of Frank William Midgett.

She was a retired cook with the oasis restaurant and a member of the Bethany United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women and the Ladies Bible Class.

Surviving are two daughters: Loretta M. Case of Brown Summit and Janice M. Gallop of Wanchese; four sisters: Virgie Sobel of Vista, California, Lucetta Minton of Key West, Fla., Madge Frye and Vanda Sigsby, both of Norfolk, Va.; a brother, Gus Saunders Of Wanchese; 17 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be held Sunday in the Bethany United Methodist Church by the Rev. Sidney Epperson and the Rev. Johnny Chase. Burial will follow in the Manteo Cemetery.
