Mr. Bohnstedt was born on February 1, 1955 in Garrett, a son of Gene A. and Martha A. (Myers) Bohnstedt, and spent his formative years in Churubusco. He graduated from Churubusco High School in 1974, and earned his technical certificate from Lincoln Tech. in Indianapolis, IN.
Formerly employed as an Alignment Mechanic at Kelley Chevrolet, he had last worked as a department manager at Lowe's Illinois Road for 10 years.
He was a member of St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Council 11353, and served on the Churubusco Volunteer Fire Department for many years.
On May 14, 1977 he was married in Churubusco to Karen Nelson. She survives.
The other relative include, three children Bradley (Lindsay) Bohnstedt of Oklahoma City, OK. and Amy (Joe) Wentworth, and Nolan Bohnstedt both of Fort Wayne; his parents Gene A. and Martha Bohnstedt of Churubusco; two brothers, Steven B. (Tina) and Brian K. (Julie) Bohnstedt both of Fort Wayne; two sisters, LeaAndrea McConnell of Fort Wayne, and Lynette J. Bohnstedt, of Churubusco; his in-laws Hurshell "Bud" and Beverly Nelson of Churubusco; and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister Gloria Mae Bohnstedt.
Burial took place in the Catholic Cemetery in Fort Wayne. IN.
