Charles grew up in Lubbock and spent most of his life there. Charles married Ruth Powell May 8, 1948; she preceded him in death on October 5, 2002. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed fishing and hunting; he also had indoor activities he loved and they included dancing, dominoes, bowling and watching old westerns, especially any John Wayne movies. He moved to Whitney in 2003. He was a member of the Open Range Cowboy Church.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Sybil Maynard; brothers, Frank Maynard, Melvin Maynard and Willie Moore.
Survivors include his children; Chuck Maynard, Kathy Snelgrove, Sherry Waller; 12 grand children; 16 great-grand children, numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will be held Wednesday, September 5, 2012 at the Open Range Cowboy Church in Whitney. Interment will follow at Kimbell Cemetery near Kopperl.
