Jayla was born at Cobb General Hospital. A student at Bay Springs Middle School as an eighth grade student. Jayla was involved in extracurricular activities as a cheerleader and goal keeper for the co-ed soccer team. She also enjoyed gymnastics and competition cheerleading. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Villa Rica, but also attended Wednesday night Youth group at First United Methodist Church, Villa Rica.

She is survived by her mother Kristie Mayne Prewett, step-father Weston Prewett of Douglasville; sister Kristen Grace Hammonds; maternal grandparents Bob and Vivian Mayne of Kentucky; aunt Becky Mayne Blevins (Jeff); and a number of cousins.

She is also survived by her father JJ Phipps; big brother Marshal J. Phipps; paternal grandmother Bonnie Phipps of Villa Rica; paternal great-grandmother Dorothy Philpot of Barbourville, KY. She was predeceased by her paternal grandfather, James Phipps (2006). The two have identical funerals times and burials.

A candlelight vigil was held at the First UMC of Villa Rica, Monday, January 26 beginning at 6pm.

A remembrance service was held at Villa Rica High School on Wednesday, January 28 at 7:45 am.

Funeral service will be Wednesday, January 28 at 7:30, at First Baptist Church of Villa Rica; visitaiton will begin at 6pm at the church.

A memorial service was held Thursday evening January 29 at Crossroads Church in Douglasville at 6:30pm.

A Graveside service will be held at the Phipps Family Cemetery on Friday, January 30 at 10am in Kentucky.

A time of friendship and love will be held on Saturday, January 31 at Locust Grove Baptist Church, Girdler, Kentucky from 2-4pm. All are welcome to attend.

Donations may be made to the American Foundation of Suicide Prevention.

She may be gone, but she will never be forgotten. She will always live in the hearts and memories of those who knew her and loved her most.
