PIERCE -- Services for Elsie L. Nathan, 88, of Pierce will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. John's Lutheran Church in Pierce with burial in Prospect View Cemetery and the Rev. Keith Christiansen officiating. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at Stonacek Memorial Chapel in Pierce. She died Thursday, June 13, 2013, at Plainview Manor.

Elsie Lizzie Louise Nathan was born Jan. 26, 1925, at Pilger to Herman and Mary (Duesterback) Koehlmoos. She was baptized March 29, 1925, by Rev. F. G. Scheips and confirmed April 2, 1939, by Rev. E. J. Moede. She attended District 15, Stanton County, through the eighth grade. She married Delbert C. Nathan on Oct. 4, 1953, at St. John's Lutheran Church, Pilger. The couple farmed northeast of Pierce, farming 45 years in Pierce County. They resided on the same farm until 1997 when they moved into Pierce. Elsie worked as a cook at WeeTown and at the Lutheran Hospital in Norfolk. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Pierce, and VFW Auxiliary, Norfolk.

Survivors include two sons, Terry "T" and wife Kerry Nathan of Pierce and Randy Nathan of Farmington, N.M.; four grandchildren, Cory Mattson, Heather Kesting, Adam Nathan and Greg Nathan; five great-grandchildren, Devin, Payton and Aiden Gnat and Keaton and Carissa Mattson.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Delbert Nathan and daughter Cindy Nathan, who passed away Sept. 29, 1976, three brothers and one sister.

Organist will be Jean Zautke with congregational hymns "Amazing Grace", "Old Rugged Cross" and "Heaven Is My Home."

Casket bearers will be Adam Nathan, Greg Nathan, Cory Mattson, Heather Kesting, Doug Haas, Alvin Meier. Honorary casket bearers will be Devin Gnat, Payton Gnat, Aiden Gnat, Keaton Mattson, Carissa Mattson.
