Pearl and her husband Samuel,
owned the Petoskey Rug Shop and
a lovely large home on the corner of
Petoskey and State Stret. It was a familar
summer boarding house for "hayfever guests.”
Every summer guests could be seen
relaxing on the long front porch.

Pearl was born in New York
slate and came to Northern
Michigan as a small girl with her
family. She was married in Petoskey
at the First Methodist Church In 1902 to
Samuel T. Gokee. They renewed
their marrlage on their golden
en wedding arin!versary In 1957
at the sarna church. Mr. Gokee
preceded her In dealh three
years ago.

She and her husband owned
the Petoskey Rug Shop and
a summer retreat for "hayfever
guests.” He was considered
a Petoskey business pioneer.

Mrs. Gokee was a member at the First
Methodlst Church and the W.S.C,
S. Circle Two and Philathea Sunday
Schooll class; and a member,
of the Emmel Rebekah Lodge, 104.
5urviving are three daughlers,
Mrs. Helen Cannon,
Mrs. Benjamin (Barbara) A. ,
Yettaw, and Mrs. MIchael ,
ehiel (Virginia) Lachmab, ‘
and a son, Thomas S. Gokee,
18 grandchUdren; 16
great grandchIldren.
The ·body ws returned to
Petoskey. Friends could call
until the time of the servlces
at Stone Funeral Home.
