Today I ran across the application that Aunt Winnie filled in to apply for a Tennessee Delayed Birth Record on the 16th of October 1944. In the application she gave her name as Winnie
Virginia Hughes not Winnie Ellen Hughes. The middle name, Virginia, is, as we know, from her mother, Virginia Deland A. Springfield.
Could it be that when my cousin Ellen told you that she was named after her mother, she was only referring to Virginia? Or do you have sources (other than her gravestone) that state that her name was Winnie Ellen Hughes?
Best regards,
Recs
