William “Bill” Zoerhoff
served in the U.S.
Navy and was a member of the
medical corps. Returning to
his home town of Grand Rapids,
Michigan, he attended
Calvin College where he earned a
B.A. degree in 1950, and
completed his medical technology
internship at Butterworth Hospital.
Afterward he was employed at
St. Mary's Hospital.He was president
of the Western Michigan Society of
Medical Technologists and _
organized the Northern Michigan
Society of Medical Technologists,
serving as president - for two terms.
He was the laboratory manager at
Northern Michigan Hospital for
33 years. He was very well-known for
his activities with Little Traverse
Civic Theatre as well as
the Theater Arts Department
at Bay View. He appeared in
numerous productions over
the years and in the process
met his wife, June Cannon,
while appearing in "The
Music Man.” They married,
and from that time on,
were inseparable companions.
At the United Methodist Church
Mr. Zoerhof was a Sunday school
teacher, a member of the chancel
choir; a Stephens Minister and on many
boards within the church.
He was known as a devout Christian
and ardent scholar of the Bible.
In addition, he was on Petoskey's
zoning board of appeals for
numerous years. A quote:
"Bill will be remembered
as a ‘gentle' man in every way with
a quiet sense of humor and he
will be missed by all who had
the good fortune to have him as their friend.”
Mr. Zoerhoff was survived by
his wife, children, grandchildren, sisters,
and numerous nieces and nephews.
