GREENSBORO - HOWARD B. ACKERMAN, HOWIE, 85, died on Friday, January 09, 2015. Howard was born in Brooklyn, NY to Murray and Sophie Ackerman. He graduated from Pennsylvania Military College in 1952 and was sworn into the Army by General Omar Bradley. A veteran of the Korean War, he served as a Lieutenant in the First Calvary Division of the US Army Infantry.Before he retired, he was comptroller for several companies. He enjoyed watching sports, bowling, but his greatest enjoyment in life was his family. Howard was a beloved and devoted father, grandfather and great grandfather. Howard was preceded in death by his beloved wife Dorothy Sara Ackerman (Weiner) in 2003, his parents, his sister Molly Gross (Ackerman); his niece Marcia Cole (Gross). He is survived by his children; Arlene and husband Tim, Michael and wife Nancy, Roz and husband John, and Harold and wife Penny; grandchildren, Heather, Caelin, Alison, Jeffrey, Michael, Jonathan, Terry, Tim, and great grandchildren.Graveside services will be held on Sunday, 1 p.m. at the Greensboro Hebrew Cemetery with Rabbi Eliezer Havivi officiating.
