Marion Flemons was the son of Arkansas natives Marion Daulpias Flemons (1852-1920) and Elizabeth Cornelia Strewn (1855-1934). At age 20 he married 18-year-old Ella Zona Basham (1889-1985) in Crawford, Pike County, Arkansas on December 9, 1907.

While living in Hunt County, Texas, Marion worked as a drugstore clerk as well as a conductor for the Missouri-Kansas-Texas "Katy" Railroad. In 1919, the Flemons family moved to Nathan, Pike County, Arkansas where he worked as a pumper for the Memphis, Dallas, and Gulf Railroad.

Marion died from the Spanish flu on Leap Day 1920.
